194th RHA Annual Exhibition

My painting called ‘Between the tides’ was selected for the 194th RHA Annual Exhibition in 15 Ely Place, Dublin. This artwork is inspired by my time observing the wonderful array of life in rock pools on the coast near my home in West Cork. I have always been interested in exploring out-of-the-way-places, hard to reach, taken for granted spaces, wild places in plain sight, filled with life. My work is a devotional act of trying to depict the astounding complexities of the natural world that I find around me. To put a spotlight on the wonder of my everyday encounters, glimmers, those moments of awe, that if you stop and be present can blow your mind with it’s diversity, strength, vulnerability, fragility, generosity, beauty and restorative powers.

‘Between the tides, 2024’, acrylic on solid wood panel, 20 x 20 x 4cm.

Varnishing Day at RHA. It was so exciting to see my artwork on the wall and to see that it had a red dot beside it. Thank you to everyone at RHA for making it a really memorable experience.

The ‘small artworks wall’, can you spot my painting among all these other inspirational pieces?
